Now I have a machine gun

HO-HO-HO

Got me a German Sport Guns GSG-5. It's a .22LR chambered clone of the MP5. Came with one 22 round stick mag, and I bought 4 more that were on sale online. Going to try it out tomorrow. Should be a blast :D

MFF 2009 Photos

It's allready been a week since MFF 2009, gah; where has the time gone? :/ Oh well, only 50 more weeks till next year!

I missed the rush of people getting photos in, but since I need to manually go through and edit each one in the format which I shoot, it takes me longer. Varied quality on the images due to both learning a new camera and horrendus lighting at the Westin.

For those interested in seeing I uploaded some photos on my webspace here

Might eventually put a select few of these on FA or something. But the full album will remain here. Enjoy!

KF4RRY Repeater at FC2010

NCARC will provide the KF4RRY repeater at Further Confusion this coming year! Radio related scheduling will be announced on the machine, and QSL cards may be available from FCAV staff in the Imperial Ballroom, workload permitting.

Full duplex UHF: 441.500, + offset, PL 100.0
Half duplex VHF: 147.555 PL 100.0 (cross-band repeat, simplex)

(For the truly observant, these are indeed the same frequencies used at MFF'09)

Frequencies will be confirmed approximatly two weeks before the convention. Hope to hear you on the air!

Midwest FurFest 2009 has come and gone, but at least we have the photos to remember it by...

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the photo session in the pine room, we had a great turnout this year and its always a pleasure to get the chance to interact with so many friendly suiters! This year alone, between [info]jet_der_hund and myself, we took 21GB of photos - 2,200 raw photos.

This is the first of two groups of photos we will be posting - presented here are 1,043 pictures of those who stopped by and struck a post in front of our cameras. Keep an eye here and at the gallery, as we'll post the second group of photos later this week!

You know- I was just thinking something. Whoever ends up with me as a partner one day will be very lucky. I'm in a position right now where I really should be completely resting. But am I?- no. Because dishes need to be done, and I'm out of some clean clothes, and I should probably cook up that food before it goes bad, especially given that I might be largely-incapacitated for another few days. I really need someone here to be doing these things for me, A) for the sake of being humane and keeping me out of the pain and possible prolonging of recovery that excessive movement is causing, and B) because physically even these minor chores are near impossible. But I have no one here- I'm by myself. And so the band must play on- I have to figure out how to be self-sufficient even under terrible difficulty. So yeah- whoever ends up with me is damn lucky, because they'll have a partner with a powerful amount of self strength and will.

And now that I'm done processing my frustrated emotions, time to get up because typing kinda hurts too. Laundry time next, I guess...

Oh. I was kinda hoping that a night's sleep would see a partial recovery. But now I can no longer stand up straight.

Looking for some pics!

So, MFF yet again was a blast! I, along with the rest of the security staff..... secured things... to... stuff.... I mean, kept everyone at the convention secure! With what or how? Don't ask! :)

So, what I am looking for are some photos that were taken during 2's performance. Teej and myself decided to secure Whitewolf in suit to a backboard (because being security, we must make sure things are good and secure), and trotted her out to the closed doors next to the performance. We placed her down and let folks take pictures for a few moments before bringing her back to the headless lounge. I WANT THESE PICTURES! ALL OF THEM! OMNOMNOMO--err.. Yea... So if you have any pictures, please, link them to me on my journal, or on here! They were full of fun and awesome, so I'd like to get my hands on them! :)

Thanks again all, and I'm glad that from what I see, everyone had an amazing convention! I'll do my part in making sure you have many more to come.

"Remington .17 HMR Product Warning"

I just ran across an article in the December issue of American Rifleman that I get from the NRA. On page28 under Random shots it's titled "Remington .17 HMR Product Warning" and it is SERIOUS! STOP SHOOTING IT IF YOU HAVE ONE! I'm going to take the time to quote the article since sometimes pictures don't always come out and this is too important.

"Remington .17 HMR Product Warning"

"Reminington recently learned from it's supplier that its .17 HMR ammunition is unsuitable for use in semi-automatic rifles, and Model 597 .17 HMR semi-automatic rifles are unsuitable for use with any ammunition. Such use could result in property damage or serious personal injury. Remington recommends discontinuing the use of Remington .17 HMR in semi-automatic rifles and discontinuing the use of the Model 597 .17 HMR in all applications.
To return any Remington .17 HMR ammunition or Model 597 .17 HMR rifle, contact Remington Consumer Service at (800) 243-9700, Prompt No.3 For each complete box of 50 rounds of Remington .17 HMR ammunition returned, Remington will provide a coupon good for the purchase of any Remington ammunition at your local dealer.
Remington will provide a $200 coupon for a Model 597 .17 HMR synthetic stock semi-automatic rifle, and a $250 coupon for one with a laminated stock; each coupon is good toward the purchase of a replacement Remington firearm. Remington will also reimburse the consumer for the postage needed to return the rifles.
Please allow up to six weeks after Remington receives the products for the appropriate coupons to arrive. Instructions for redemption of the coupons will be contained on the coupons."

"Remington"

I hope nobody gets hurt before you read this and if you know someone that has any of this call them now and tell them.

LAFF Group Skiing

Just out of curiosity, how many LFF group members would be interest in a local area downhill skiing event this winter? If we can get +15 participating members, then we can get a group rate (between $20-40) which includes skiing lessons (which is good if you are a first time skier or snowboarder).

I've had a problem for the past 10+ years wherein sometimes I'll turn my neck a certain way, or I'll bend down, or I'll reach for something- and my back experiences a shot of pain, followed by hours/days worth of enduring pain. I figure they're muscle pulls, but I don't really know.

Well- it happened again today, only this has to be the second worst one I've ever experienced. Any movement, any resting position- a fury of pain resides. I'm self-medicating heavily with alcohol, since it serves as both a muscle relaxant and a pain number. On top of that, ibuprofin. My liver likely hates me right now, but I've got the pain down to a dull roar. And I can sort of walk. Sadly- I'm out of dishes, and need to see if I can pull off the high-intensity acrobatics required of lifting my arms and moving them, in order to wash the dishes. Here goes. Alcohol and sugar just doesn't keep the body fed. Sigh

MFF this year, as far as I can tell, ran wonderfully. Thanks in part to the hard working staff, volunteers and the plethora of Guests of Honor.

Thank you Perro, Davequat, M.C.A Hogarth, D.C.Simpson, Tincrash, Will Sandborn, Derrick Dasenbrock,, ScribbleFox, Gene Breshears, Thomas K. Dye, Robert and Margaret Carspecken,, Ursula Vernon, Chillymouse, Matt and Darcy Sowers, Michael Bard ,GM ,Stig, Dineegla and Muscle Wolf.

If anybody attended an art/lit panel or are one of the aforementioned panelists and have any comments, I would like to know.

Not much to report from me

My first time at MFF and I had a great time, but most of my time was spent either dealing with the visuals set up, getting art, or hanging with friends. Sunday was the only time I got a chance to attend an event (fursuit games).

Want to send out a thanks to the staff, and especially Hartree and Xylen(SP?) for their help/putting up with me.

Also want to thank those of you that danced and enjoyed watching my work on the projection screen. While this was something to add to the dance atmosphere, it was also a beta test of the program being used, focusing on letting random new people use it, and seeing how well it worked with things like glowsticks and non-skin toned colors. It worked wonderfully, so thanks again from me and the programer for helping us out, whether you knew it or not. >:-D Bwahahahahaha*hack**cough**weeze*

Patton Oswalt's Christmas Shoes

I love Patton, and this is hilarious. A must watch, especially if you might hear Christmas Shoes on the radio this year.

ALERT: MUMPS

http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1069889/

tl;dr - Jim Groat has come down with the mumps, and was possibly contagious during the convention.

Do not, repeat, DO NOT panic. If you have not been immunized (or just can't remember if you have), contact your local health department and see what steps should be taken. If you and your loved ones are immunized, you will be fine.

Talk about con crud...

Thanksgiving, 2009.

It's that time of year again... The ritual gathering of the tribe and animal sacrifice...

And while I've said it before, my mushiness is once again forgiven because on this day it is not only expected, but demanded!

Whether our contact is limited to a few social pleasantries exchanged on here, or we hang out in person regularly, or anywhere in-between...

I am thankful for YOU.

Now get off of your computer and go have a Happy Thanksgiving!
